Description

Stewartia malacodendron One of the only two species of Stewartia native to North America. The “Silky Camellia” is a rarely cultivated, multi-stemmed small deciduous tree native to shaded bluffs and ravines in the southeastern USA. Quite uncommon in the wild. This species has large white flowers in late spring, these offset with a boss of bluish stamens – quite stunning. Best in light shade. Rarely offered, these are grown from seed sent to us by our good friend Peter Norris. The seed was collected wild in northern Georgia. Our first offering. (-10) RSBG
