Description
___ Sinopanax formosanus A monotypic genus in the Araliaceae (ginsengs, scheffleras, aralias, etc.). This has the general appearance of a Schefflera species (a broad-leaved evergreen shrub or small tree with very large and ornamental leaves). This species features large, palmate and leathery leaves with a tan indumentum beneath (looking sort of like giant evergreen maple leaves). Native to the high mountains of Taiwan and so quite a bit more tolerant of cold temps than its semitropical look would lead you to believe. A magnificent foliage plant as a stand-alone specimen or as an accent. Best in light shade but sun tolerant in the Pacific NW. ((+5?) RSBG $37.00
