Description

Rhododendron lanigerum KW#6258 ‘Roundwood’ The flowers of this beautiful species emerge from the most amazing-looking large buds in early spring. The fuzzy overlapping scales of the floral buds are reminiscent of a small pineapple and provide a great show as they develop into a large rounded inflorescence of flowers (early spring) that range in color from pink to red or crimson with darker nectar pouches. This is the crimson-flowered Award of Merit form (1951) which I consider the best form in our collection here at the RSBG. (0\R1\4) RSBG#1975/114 Nice large plants – rarely offered due to difficulties in propagation.
