Description
Rhododendron campanulatum ssp. aeruginosum This forms a rounded shrub with red-purple flowers in mid-spring. An admired species due to its stunning young foliage which emerges an intense blue-green with a white indumentum beneath. The indumentum eventually darkens to a thick orange-brown. A very striking and eye-catching plant in late spring and early summer and one of the most distinct and delightful species in the genus due to its incredible foliage. To be honest, this is a very shy-bloomer which is a bonus as the flowers are a rather harsh color against the blue foliage. ( -10\R1\3) RSBG#1976/200
