ART MARKET

CorpseFlowerStudio
We are Sue Kim and Zeke Spier, partners and glassblowers who operate CorpseFlowerStudio together in Burien. We collaborate in both flameworking and hot shop glass blowing. Our favorite projects combine glass and horticulture, where we can play with the magic that light brings to glass as well as the life it gives to plants. We make glass mugs, sculpture, wall hangings, and chain jewelry.

Hannah Nicholson
Functional handmade ceramics for your home, made in Gig Harbor, WA. I’m inspired by the beauty of Western Washington, particularly the spring blooms and bright colors you can find among the wildflowers. Treat yourself to a planter, mug, travel tumbler, plant stake, incense holder, berry bowl or one of my other one-of-a-kind goodies!

Karen’s Art By Nature
My process stems from a deep infatuation and appreciation of nature. I am always on high alert for patterns and colors and striking that balance between eye catching colors and a sense of calm. I am a wildflower admirer and enjoy highlighting many of them in my art.

Kendyl Chasco
My practice celebrates the day-to-day rituals of life through the creation of meaningful handmade objects. My vessels are mostly wheel-thrown and hand-altered porcelaneous stoneware finished in high fire wood and soda kilns. These act as canvases to showcase a rich conversation between clay body, form, and firing style within the finished work.

Michaelann M. Allen
I collect driftwood from the Washington coast and bring beads back from my travels to Africa to create my sun catchers and make my jewelry. I also bring back fabrics, baskets and other items from my travels. I am interested in the metaphysical and participate in metaphysical fairs, so I also create spell bottles, besoms, candles and other metaphysical items.

Paisley Studio Brush & Lens
Husband-and-wife artistic team Eric Shellgren and D’Arcy Heiber create photographic and watercolor art. Their creations are inspired by their love of nature, travel, and life in the PNW. Eric specializes in botanical photography, focusing on Pacific Northwest plants as well as desert species and landscapes. D’Arcy also enjoys painting botanicals, old houses and rusty relics. Many of their inspirations come from the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden.

Patton Glass
Patton Glass is a Tacoma based artist who creates hand blown glass work in her small home studio. Her art is heavily inspired by time spent in the garden and in nature, you will find bright colors and whimsy in her work.

Petal Gift Boutique
I curate handcrafted, beautiful and distinctive jewelry at affordable price points. Cultivating meaningful and lasting relationships is very important. I value each of my customer’s stories and believe that the intersection between art and community is extremely vital.

Rainbow Goods & Readings
Rainbow Goods is the creative corner for Washington native Natalie Haywood, a multidisciplinary artist who loves working with resin and digital mediums. Natalie draws from her background in Shamanic energy work to embody the wonder and beauty of our beautiful Earth in everyday decor. Her jewelry, trays, boxes, planters, and more are all one of a kind- with no two ever the same.

Xeric Ceramics
Julie Baldock is a poet, ceramicist, and general gal about town who lives and loves in Tacoma. Currently, she is selling a 2nd edition of her book of poetry, written during the pandemic year, called A Woman of a Certain Age. You can find her teaching writing workshops around Tacoma or selling her books and art at local markets.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
We’re looking for friendly, plant loving people to volunteer in the Visitor Center for an hour to help hand out maps, tally plants, and general visitor direction and guidance. We have several slots available on May 11, 12 and 18 & June 22. The Visitor Center is open from 10 am-4 pm and we’re hoping to fill every hour with a knowledgeable and friendly plant friend to help ensure visitors have an amazing experience at the garden.

Volunteers will receive a free day pass to attend Mother’s Day Weekend and Blue Poppy Day (which they can participate in before and/or after their shift in the Visitor Center). Volunteers must commit to coming to the garden for orientation the morning of event day between 8-9 AM or any time between now and event day.

If you’re interested, please email natalie@rhodygarden.org.

Thank you for supporting the garden!
