The Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden (RSBG) invites you to our January Webinar happening on January 16, 2025, at 6 p.m. PST! Join RSBG’s Executive Director of Horticulture and Curator Steve Hootman as he takes you on a virtual journey of the many rare and beautiful plants he observed during a spring garden tour of Tregrehan in Cornwall, Bodnant Wales, and Branklyn and Glendoick in Scotland.

About Steve Hootman

Steve Hootman is the executive director of horticulture and curator of the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden (RSBG) in Federal Way, Washington. He has worked at the RSBG since 1992 and has participated in or led at least 30 expeditions into the world’s remote regions looking for rare and new taxa of rhododendrons and other plants. Steve is considered one of the world authorities on the genus Rhododendron and woodland gardening and has introduced dozens of rhododendrons and other ornamental plants into cultivation.

    • You can still pay with a credit card/VISA on PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account) – just click the button “Pay via PayPal” > click “Pay with Debit or Credit Card” > Check out as Guest by entering your email address > enter your payment information > ensure the toggle is off towards the bottom of the screen to pay as guest
  • The week of the scheduled webinar, you will receive an email from RSBG staff with a link to the scheduled Zoom webinar and further instruction.

How to Join the Meeting

  • Please note that you do not need a Zoom account to attend the lecture. However, you will be required to download Zoom software on your device. There are two ways to do this:
    Visit Zoom.us and find the “RESOURCES” drop down menu at the very top of the webpage. Hover your mouse over the arrow next to “RESOURCES” and select “Download Zoom Client” from the drop-down menu. On this page, select the first download button labeled “Zoom Client for Meetings.”

OR

  • Click on the lecture link, which will be sent to you via email. The link will prompt you to download the software.
  • You do not need a webcam or a microphone to participate, however, you will need a device with speakers to hear the lecture.
  • All Zoom registrants will be muted during the lecture. We will take questions in the chat functions and answer them in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
