1974/008 ‘Midwinter” Berg (-25\R1\5). Red-purple flowers on this AM and FCC form. Our earliest-blooming rhododendron, typically in early January. Tough, hardy, and very floriferous.

R. goodenoughii is blooming in the Rutherford Conservatory. It was named after Goodenough Island in Papua New Guinea where this plant comes from.
