Description

Rhododendron moulmainense (Oxyphyllum Group) An extremely widespread and variable species that eventually forms a very large tree in its native habitats ranging from the Himalaya through China and into Malaysia and Indonesia. Some botanists have separated out several different species from throughout this huge range, whereas others have “lumped ” them all into this single variable species. The trees also feature stunning smooth and peeling bark – I have seen specimens in northern Vietnam with trunks over three feet in diameter. The variable large and showy pink, lilac or white flowers are fragrant, appearing in early spring. Our first offering of this selection, which features masses of long white flowers with a yellow blotch. Very ornamental and rarely offered. (+20R15) RSBG $12.00-B
