Description
Rhododendron arborescens Upright deciduous shrubs with smooth bark and stems. The leaves are shiny dark green on the upper surface, brightly colored in the autumn. The fragrant flowers (early to mid-summer) are white to white flushed pink with a long narrow tube and spreading lobes. The Smooth Azalea is a fine late-blooming, fragrant species for sun or the woodland garden. Native to the mountains of the eastern USA from Pennsylvania to Alabama where it occurs from 1,000 to 5,000 ft. These are grown from seed collected wild in Pennsylvania from a plant with pale pink flowers. (-10\R1\5) RSBG#100sd2015
