Lucy Davenport launched Bonsai Akira in her garden studio in summer of 2015, to promote the practice of bonsai using the species growing in Pacific Northwest gardens. From lilacs to conifers, hinoki cypress to viburnums, winterhazel to Japanese maples, the trees bring four seasons to the garden or patio. No garden should be without the charm of plants in miniature. They speak to us deeply of nature and our connection to it, in the voices of trees, mirroring the harmony of nature on an intimate scale. As we contemplate the trees they touch our inner self, giving newly awakened reverence and delight–a timeless moment in the midst of the everyday.
