Description
A great foliage plant, this species of trillium has three purple and white mottling on green leaves that are held tightly in a whorl around the end of a 1-foot tall stem. Emerging directly from the leaves is a single flower with narrow erect petals which are generally maroon-red, but can vary in color to brownish red and chartreuse. The flowers are interesting, but the leaves are the reason to grow this plant. Part to full shade, even moisture, rich soil. Native to the east and Midwest.
