Description
Rhododendron vaseyi Large upright deciduous azaleas with distinctive elliptic leaves tapering to a point at each end. Brilliant red fall foliage color in most regions. The widely funnel-shaped flowers (early to mid-spring) are strikingly beautiful in shape, poise and color. They range from pale pink to deep rose or rarely white. Although easily cultivated and quite common where it occurs naturally, the Pinkshell Azalea has a very limited range in the wild. It is an interesting species not closely related to any other Rhododendron. These are grown from seed collected in the wild by our good friend Don Hyatt. (-20\R1\5) RSBG#214sd2011
