Rhododendron argipeplum KCSH#0383 A lovely species very closely related to the popular barbatum. This species differs in its wider leaves with a thin brownish indumentum on the lower leaf surface. An extremely beautiful four-season rhododendron with purplish new growth, bristly petioles, smooth and peeling red-brown bark and bright red flowers in early spring. From seed collected in the wild.
