Western Tananger
Craig Cummings
Welcome to a special workshop in a special place….
at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden.
Explore the birds of the beautiful Pacific Northwest in this new introductory field class at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden. This class will help participants build essential birding skills through hands-on learning in a stunning natural setting. You’ll learn how to observe carefully, identify key field marks, use habitat clues to gain confidence recognizing birds in the field, and more. Whether you’re curious about nature or looking for a new outdoor hobby, birding is a fun way to connect with the world around you.
The class will be taught by Craig Cummings, a trained birder and graduate of Seattle’s Birds Connect Bird University. Craig is an experienced West Coast and international birder and a dedicated conservation bird counter. He has participated in the Audubon Christmas Bird Count for over 20 years, serving as both a participant and area lead. He has also contributed to numerous bird observatory counts, most recently spending four years participating in the Puget Sound Seabird Survey conducted by the Puget Sound Bird Observatory.
