The Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden invites you to our new webinar on Wednesday August 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM Pacific Time

Introduction to the Propagation Program at the RSBG

Have you ever wondered how the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden grows and preserves its extraordinary collection of rare plants?

Atsuko Gibson, Assistant Curator

Join Nursery Manager and Assistant Curator Atsuko Gibson for a behind-the-scenes look at the Garden’s propagation program and learn how new plants are carefully cultivated for conservation, research, and distribution.

The Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden is one of the leading institutions in the collection of species rhododendrons. What makes us unique is one of our missions, which is to distribute these rare plant materials to other botanical institutions and the public. The propagation of these plants takes place at our on-site 2-acre nursery where I spend most of my day.

During this webinar, Atsuko will explore the techniques used to propagate species rhododendrons and other uncommon companion plants from around the world. Whether you’re an experienced gardener, a plant collector, or simply curious about what happens behind the scenes at the Garden, you’ll gain insight into the work that supports one of the Garden’s core conservation missions.
