Description
Rhododendron molle ssp. japonicum One of the most spectacular of the deciduous azaleas. This subspecies has very large, brightly-colored flowers that range in color from reddish to salmon-orange – variable in color but always quite striking and showy. The flowers appear in late spring and the foliage is colorful in the autumn. Easy and adaptable but best in sun. Rarely seen in gardens but one of the finest azaleas in my opinion.
