Description

Columnea microphylla A member of the Gesneriaceae (African Violet family) native to the cloud forests of Central America where it grows on mossy cliffs and as an epiphyte in trees. This is an evergreen herbaceous perennial with slowly creeping and long pendulous stems. The paired small leaves are round and the whole plant is softly hairy. Bright scarlet, tubular flowers with yellow throats appear at every leaf joint.  (+25?) RSBG
