Description
Rhododendron hodgsonii affinity This big-leaf is very similar to the closely related hodgsonii, with similar flowers, bark and habit. It differs in its striking, deep red-brown, thick indumentum on the lower leaf surface. The leaves are held stiffly upright on the stems, providing a fantastic display of indumentum. A bonus to the outstanding foliage is the ornamental, smooth and peeling, dark reddish-brown bark. Worth growing for the foliage alone and seems to be quite hardy. Soon to be named as a new species?
