2015 Featured Artist:
Bio
Wendy Ray was born in Alaska, the third of four children. She grew up in an Air Force family, living in many places around the world enjoying the beauty each location offered. She was captivated by the artistry and skilled craftsmanship found in the antiques which her parents collected in their travels. Wendy has lived in Auburn for 25 years with her husband and has two grown sons.

After raising her boys and closing the doors to her antique business of 20 years in 2010, she was excited to have time to explore the arts. Her focus is on painting in oils, watercolor, welding and photography, but is always exploring other creative avenues. She enjoys capturing the beauty of nature in her paintings, including landscapes, florals, animals or whatever piques her interest. She enjoys bringing to life scenes from old snapshots of times loved and cherished but not forgotten. Her appeal for the antiquity of things is a natural influence on her traditional painting style. It gives her work legitimacy that carries it above a mere pastime, as it is a genuine reflection of the artist and the things she knows and loves.
