Instructor – Lesli Cohan, Photographer & Owner

Images Through The Door Photography

Welcome to a special workshop in a special place – the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden.  My goal is to help you capture the beauty of the colors and textures throughout the Garden, and to guide your photo compositions and techniques through visualization and instruction on how light, shadow, color and shape interact in a photographic vision.

Seeing and expressing yourself through your photos is much like the old joke about what it takes to get to Carnegie Hall – practice, practice, practice!  Some people can do this naturally and some cannot; but everyone can learn a little more about how to “see” and refine their own distinct vision during this workshop.

We will spend the workshop time outdoors in the garden looking for special subjects, and I will be there to give pointers and suggest ways to help you work with your camera and lenses to get a good result.  In order to best use our time, all participants should have a good working knowledge of their cameras and lenses.  It is also great if you have experience in how to change settings on your camera, as we will experiment using some Manual and other settings.  In addition, if you have one, bring a tripod – it really helps you to get those shots without shake!

It is the goal of the workshop to create understanding, appreciation and respect for the natural environment of the Garden.  Participants are required to follow all rules and regulations at the location, and have respect for the fragile plant species.  We will always place the welfare of the plant and flower species above the desire to get any shot that might contribute to stress or destruction of this beautiful environment.

The workshop will begin at exactly 10:15am, so please show respect to your fellow participants by arriving at the scheduled time.

You can register for this class alone or with the class on Saturday, May 9th. Class size will be kept small to ensure personal attention and good use of time in the Rhododendron Garden. Classes will be held rain or shine.
