Herbarium Workshop

We are very pleased that on Saturday, January 27, 2018, Valerie L. Soza, Ph D, University of Washington Department of Biology will be presenting a 4-hour workshop at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden in Federal Way, Washington. This workshop will be from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, and will cover the following items:

• Introduction to herbaria and the herbarium collection at the RSBG
• Demos of herbarium specimens
• How to collect herbarium specimens in the field
• Hands-on practicum on herbarium specimen mounting
• Integrating herbarium labels and databases
• Uses of herbaria and herbarium specimens

The cost for this workshop is $35.00 and it is open to Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden members only but if you are not a current member, we will be happy to accept your membership; the cost is minimal.

If you will be attending, please bring the following items:

• An apron or clothes that you do not mind getting glue on
• Hand pruners
• Rain gear (most of the workshop will be indoors, but we will go outside briefly)
• Laptop with Microsoft Office (optional)
• Lunch/snacks
