DESCRIPTION:The mystical Himalayan blue poppy\, Meconopsis\, will grac
 e us with its ethereal beauty once again at the Rhododendron Species B
 otanical Garden. Come celebrate these fabulous flowers Saturday\, May 
 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and enjoy a feast for your eyes. Walk throug
 h a meadow glowing with blooming blue poppies or stroll along the ADA 
 accessible path through the blue poppy glade. The RSBG nursery will be
  stocked with a stunning selection of plants for sale\, including Meco
 nopsis (blue poppies).\n\nADMISSION\n$10 - General admission\n$7 - Sen

 n.\n\nJody Deam: Five years ago\, Jody came across plaster casting flo
 wers as a craft and fell in love with this unique way of preserving pl
 ants from the garden\, nature walks and other found objects. Her botan
 ical tiles are handmade by pressing fresh and sometimes dried flowers 
 into clay and pouring a plaster casting of the flowers. She uses flowe
 rs and plants from her garden and walks around the neighborhood. Jody 
 also gets inspiration from the produce isle in the local grocery store
 \, veggie garden or nearby nurseries and farms. Jody also teaches clas
 ses.\n\nMaster Gardeners of King County: The King County Master Garden
 er program\, an extension of Washington State University\, provides a 
 multitude of resources for home gardeners. Gardening information is av
 ailable to the public and is research-based and focused on environment
 ally friendly and sustainable gardening practices.\n\nOuter Rim Art: K
 risty loves coffee. She loves it so much that one day in 2016 while wo
 rking at a coffee shop\, she decided to try and paint with it! Since t
 hen\, she's been creating unique coffee paintings inspired by literatu
 re\, pop culture\, nature\, and The Great Pacific Northwest. She loves
  to use coffee from local roasters\, and experiment with technique. Kr
 isty lives in Tacoma with her husband and two cats.\n\nSaze Glass: Sue
  and Zeke are partners in life and glass who love to share their creat
 ions through Saze Glass. Whether making large scale home decor in the 
 hot shop or objects for everyday use\, they like to capture the shiny 
 and refractive essence of glass. They use precious metal fume\, opals\
 , and special colors in their mugs\, jewelry\, and sculpture.\nNatalie
  Haywood: Nat Haywood Goods & Readings\nNatalie is a PNW native and wo
 rks out of Tacoma\, WA. Her multimedia art is playful\, vivacious\, an
 d Earth based. Natalie explores the whimsy of the natural world\, espe
 cially the PNW\, with rocks\, moss\, and other foliage. Her primary me
 dium is resin sculptural arrangements but also designs digital collage

 \nWe're looking for friendly\, plant loving people to volunteer in the
  Visitor Center for an hour to help hand out maps\, tally plants\, and
  general visitor direction and guidance. We have several slots availab
 le. The Visitor Center is open from 10 am-4 pm and we're hoping to fil
 l every hour with a knowledgeable and friendly plant person to help en
 sure visitors have an amazing experience at the garden. Volunteers wil
 l receive a free day pass to attend Blue Poppy Day (which they can par
 ticipate in before and/or after their shift in the Visitor Center). Vo
 lunteers must commit to coming to the garden for orientation the morni
 ng of event day between 8-9 AM or any time between now and event day.\
