2016 Featured Artist – Pat Yager

Pat Yaeger promo photo webTwin Blue Poppies - Pat Yager

Northwest artist Pat Yager seeks to give the viewer a genuine sense of tranquility in her floral watercolor paintings. Her work is in collections in Britain, Costa Rica, the Middle East, Nicaragua, Canada, and the United States.  Cards and prints are at Lakewold Gardens in Lakewood, Revolution Gallery in Issaquah, and the RSBG in Federal Way and are available online.

Pat has studied under artists including Xiaogang Zhu, Jan Kunz, Del Gish, Joan McKasson, Stan Miller, and Caroline Buchanan.

Artist’s statement:

“I discovered a love for painting while in my 20’s, and after taking a few workshops here and there, decided to concentrate primarily on watercolor.  Learning to combine the fluid characteristics of the water-based pigment in both loose and “tight” applications is an unending challenge; so for me painting in watercolor is a process of continually experimenting with new ideas in order to present familiar subjects in interesting ways.  Sometimes just a dab of an unexpected color on a leaf, or an unusual flourish of a petal will catch the eye and satisfy the viewer.

I love gardening, in spite of its many variables here in the Pacific Northwest, so the colors and shapes of flowers become natural subjects to convey through paint and a brush.  As you look at my work, I hope the images will reflect to you the creative imagination of God and the peace He desires to bring into each of our lives.”
